Hey guys! 1964 called to let you know that it passed a law about sexual harassment. Sorry you're late to the game.
For those dummies who need a little help. Try to model yourself after basically every workplace and/or university.
1. I’m a highly visible poster that’s been put in multiple locations for all students to see.
Dummy tip: Don't put this poster in a back hallway where no one will ever read it.
2. I have a phone number to call.
Dummy tip: Don't make this phone number one to the institution. You have lots of money. Hire a good HR person and or an outside agency to handle these calls.
3. This phone number directs me to a person who is NOT an artistic director/casting person or someone who I’d be worried might blacklist me.
Dummy Tip: Stop telling us to come to you. You're scary. Give me someone who won't affect my career or show bias against me later.
4. This poster clearly states my institution’s policies.
Dummy Tip: If you don't have clear policies in place, it doesn't help anyone. EVERYONE has to know and state the policies just as easily as they can recite "Yes, and"
5. Let me know you're SERIOUS about not tolerating this stuff.
Dummy Tip: This poster should have a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY especially when it comes to classrooms, classmates, teachers. Let me know that you're going to listen and believe me. It might be just my word against theirs, and I need to know that you're willing to hear both sides equally.
